  2. NetHack is a Dungeons and Dragons like
  3. game where you (the adventurer) descend
  4. into the depths of the dungeon in search
  5. of the Amulet of Yendor.  You are accom-
  6. panied by a dog or cat that can help you
  7. in many ways and can be trained to do all
  8. sorts of things.  On the way you will find
  9. useful (or useless) items (quite possibly
  10. with magic properties), and assorted mons-
  11. ters.  Unlike most adventure games, which
  12. give you a verbal description of your
  13. location, NetHack gives you a visual image
  14. of the dungeon level you are on.
